DS412+ Slow Reads Fast Write

Postby dsyed1 » Thu May 10, 2012 3:24 am

Anyone experiencing this issue on their DS412+ ? I am running a gig network, using new cat 6 cables, cisco sg200-08 gig switch and already checked on NAS and PC that 1000/mbps is auto-negotiated.

I am getting 100mb/s write and around 65mb/s reads, i am using 4 seagate 7200 64mb cache drives in raid 5 configuration.. (using crystal disk mark software for benchmark testing)

please help!

Thanks

looks like the copy of Teracopy I was using maybe the reason why i was getting slow reads.. no idea why... you can read more about Teracopy here http://codesector.com/teracopy

as soon as i removed this software and started using native windows copy i am able to easily get 100mb/s both read and write... reads peaking nearly 120mb/s on some instances and writes peaking at 112mb/s on some instances

looks like the ds412+ is definitly performing as it should, will be experimenting with LAG setup next to see if i can get 200mb/s

lastly crystal disk mark still reports slower reads over faster writes as I was getting earlier, still not sure why that is the case.. however my san is performing much faster even though crystal disk mark reports slower speeds on read
