Ah. I thought you already updated to the latest DSM. It fixed my issues.

BTW - what're you data transfer speeds without using the extra memory?

If i can trust win7 a file transfer to my DS is about 80-85MB/s and from DS is about 110MB/s.
I'm using raid5 on DS.

That's pretty nice. Do you have link aggregation setup?

I'm getting pretty frustrated with my speeds.

I'm not using link aggregation. I have a HP procurve switch that's about it.
But I'm not sure I can fully trust the speed measurement win7 is giving me though.

I tried FTP, and got much weaker results. Read: 60-65MB/s, write: 40MB/s. Wonder why.

Good news. My initial testing shows that the two ram module saga has been resolved by DSM_DS1812+_2219

That is good news. Another confirmation. :D
Guess I diden't have to return my ram module in exchange for a new one after all.
According to the 2219 change log this had to be one of the minor bug fixes. Hmmm... They could at least write it down as a specific fix.

Same story. Just got and installed my new RAM module.
Now everything is working fine again. I'm glad this was a software issue.

I updated their firmwares and slapped 'em in and they seem to work fine.

Still only getting 100-120 MB/s though :/

After updating my DS1812 to the latest DSM release (2228) the transfer speeds are much more acceptable, its doubled compared to the screens I posted on the first page.

Seems like someone is listening out there afterall :D

@Ashkaan
How much memory is in your Synology bax? What model is it?and how much RAM is reported by the system?
Did your box pass the Memory Test?
I'm also interested in putting more than 3 GB of RAM into my box.
I'm running a JBoss AS 7 Server on my box and would like to increase RAM in order to avoid performance slowdowns.
