A110 seems to work fine so far with my 209+. All I did was a restart or 2 after 2.2 install. The re-index took a while and seemed to inhibit communication between until it was complete. MKV's work, now, on upnp. I sort of figured we see more PCH-related posts on here by now.

The Media Server is only available for single Network interface now. Can you try to use another network port ?

Can you try to go to Server Category and see if DMA-1000 can see the menu structure of Disk Station ?

A restart and a total re indexing seems to do the trick. I can browse the folders again. I'll try to play a video as soon as my soon goes to sleep.

Thanks.

Hello,

I'm busy with mediastream to my xbox , and installed the 2.2 beta.
Then I selected the media service option , and reindexing begins... almost 15 hours later everyting was done.

But my xbox can't find the nas disk (using upnp).

Without the beta he was able to find it.

Then I was trying to make the problem smaller , and started window media player 12.
And he din't find my nas upnp either.

- then I read that you have to reindex your media. (so for the second time, i'm doing that now)

question 1:
Is it now (during the reindexing) possible that my windows media player or other client can't find the device ?

question 2:
Is it possible that I only reindex my movies, and not all my photo's and mp3 files ? (this cost me another 15 hours)

question 3:
Are there some ssh commands, to restart the media server ?

question 4:
Is the media upnp running ?

I cannot see the mediaserver process is running and there might be something wrong to launch the MediaServer. Is it possible to type the following command:
Code: Select all
/usr/syno/etc/rc.d/S86synodms.sh restart

and see if any error message appear ?

You need not reindex again as the media data is indexed okay after first reboot.

mmm , because nothing worked and I din't know how to start the mediaserver, I did delete the
/usr/syno/etc.defaults/dms/music.agent file. (read that in this post) :s :S

When I do
dmsutils.cpp:580 Failed to open the file /usr/syno/etc.defaults/dms/music.agent

DataDisk> /usr/syno/etc/rc.d/S86synodms.sh stop
Stopping Media Service ...
DataDisk> /usr/syno/etc/rc.d/S86synodms.sh start
Starting Media Service ...

DataDisk> vi /var/log/dms.log
dmsutils.cpp:580 Failed to open the file /usr/syno/etc.defaults/dms/music.agent
dmsutils.cpp:580 Failed to open the file /usr/syno/etc.defaults/dms/music.agent

That error is correct because there isn't any /usr/syno/etc.defaults/dms/music.agent file :S
Could someone see what's in it ?
Making a empty music.agent file don't work :S

Re: DLNA server: only music - no photo/video

I noticed this morning that I suddenly could not browse to the 209+ DSM, nor could PCH access the folders. I restarted the 209+ and everything began to communicate again. That's the first time in 4 months that I've had to restart, though. When I checked the system log, I found countless event logs consisting of "system failed to parse media metadata of fil [/xxxx/xxxx/.....]. Time stamp indicates that it occurred over night. Any idea what this means and how or why it relates to my apparent "semi-crash"???

Potential Feature Bug Update.....

I also noticed that, after upgrading to beta-2.2, that my popcorn hour EJECT function no longer "ejects" movies on the 209+. Before, I could stream a movie and press STOP, and the 209+ would then resume play from that point. The EJECT button caused playback to begin from the beginning of said movie, as if the 'disc' had been truly "ejected". Now the EJECT button acts exactly as the STOP button in this respect. This is the case for smb, nfs, or upnp. I know this probably sounds like a PCH issue, but the ONLY thing that has changed in this equation is the beta-2.2 on the 209+. Does this change even remotely make sense in terms of altered interaction of the beta-2.2??? Am I just crazy? Has anyone had similar experiences with other NMT's or media streamers?

Zyxcel dma-1000.

I can see and watch movies but the box/server loses connection regularly and complain about "Failed to retrieve list".
I had the same kind of problem with the mediatomb and the fix for this server was (down). Is there anywhere I can set a similar fix?

Some users reported problems where the DMA will show an error “Failed to retrieve list” and the DMA disconnecting from the server. Incresing the alive interval seems to solve the problem – add the following option to the <server> section of your configuration file:

<alive>600</alive>

The log is recorded as we hope the use can identify the files that indexing process failed to index (These file are still indexed but only have basic information).

Users will be able to locate these files and can sumbiit to our support such that we can improve the indexing.

If the system indexing process still works, it's not "semi-crashed" or "crashed".

Thanks

I'm in the same situation with the indexing....it always says re-indexing, but it does not appear in the resource monitor under cpu processes.

So it wasn't in the correct one? How does one know?

EDIT: Replugged it and by golly it worked! I wish I knew this earlier. Even .mkv files play! Very nice.
