Mail Station 2-040 doesn't fetch mail from external account

after updating the NAS (to DSM 4.0) and the Mail Station package (2-040) it doesn't fetch anymore mails from external account by POP
It was working before the update
Anyone with the same issue?

I tried to execute "synofetch" manually at my 1511+. Result:

Syn1511> synofetch gemoe
/usr/syno/bin/synofetch: line 1: syntax error: unexpected word (expecting ")")

Doesn't look good...

OK, for me the problem is solved.

Here my steps (thanks to user goetz from German forum);

installed the IPKG package called "file"
sent command "file /usr/syno/bin/synofetch
got the result:
/usr/syno/bin/synofetch_bak: setuid ELF 32-bit LSB executable, ARM, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.14, stripped
which is the wrong version for my Ds (it is not an aARM based model)
unpacked the mailstaion package run the "fil" command for the synofetch found there
result:
/usr/syno/bin/synofetch: setuid ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.4.3, stripped
Bingo!

Removed Mailstation
Removed /usr/syno/bin/synofetch
Reinstalled Mailstation with same file like yesterday (I didnt redownload it...)

Hurra, now I have the correct version and it I get the mails.

I have no idea where this ARM version was coming from, but who cares, it is solved

Hi HarryPotter, thanks. Works for me again as well!

To all: Load the correct package from the synology website, double check that it has the correct processor type indicated, e.g. MailStation2-x86-20120305-040.spk for the 1511+ model. (NOT ARM!)

Then you can as well use the GUI to install the package.

I've installed the package downloaded from the synology website and now is working (on a DS712+ and a DS1511+)

by the way, synology support has told me that is a firewall problem, but it isn't, its a problem of the package: wrong architecture

I had definitively the right package after updating to 4.0. I allowed the firewall now to accept everything, where no rule matches. Now it works fine. But we expect hardly a hotfix for that from Synology. Thanks to all!

Sorry for confusing you. The special commands where just to identify the problem - means getting the version info of synofetch.

As you got now, the solution is just to install the correct Mailstation Version for your model.

I have the same with Mailstation (DS211, DSM 4.0). No luck yet to fix. I can send eMail but can't get my external POP3 accounts.

I have the same Issue, when using LDAP users the POP3 doesnt work.

This config files, work fine if is a Syno_User, but no if is a LDAP_User:

The home dir for Syno_user = /var/services/homes/Syno_User
The home dir for LDAP_User = /var/services/homes/@LH-DOMAIN/61/USER-1000001

Then the dir that fetchmail looks for save the popmail doesnt exist, if is a LDAP_USER.
I tried to edit this configs manually for each LDAP_User, but i get this error from logs:

/var/services/homes/USER@DOMAIN/.Maildir/fetchmail.pid: No such file or directory
fetchmail: lock creation failed.

I cant find where to change the VAR to the fetchmail.pid.
I already send a Ticket for support.

Update to FW 2198, remove MailStation and reinstall the correct package for you model again.

Updating the firware to xxx8 did the trick, Thanks!

I had to reset the NAS before I could login again. (I got a white screen after upgrading).
