Hi,
here we go. DS-106 and DS-106j are testet on real DS-106 and DS-106j hardware, DS-106e testet on my DS-106.

This is experimenal, use it on your own risk! You may lost all your data, maybe your DS isn't working anymore, if you are in warranty, you lost warranty. There is no support from Synology.

This is a dirty hack!!

I didn't investigate this any further, but any chance that the same approach would possibly work for the old 101j ?

Hi,
sorry, no. DS-101j is Intel XScale (armv5b) and there is no other DS with FW-942 for this hardware-platform.

Hi,

Thanks for your great work Goetz!
Could someone with the DS106e device confirm that this dirty hack for firmware DSM 2.2-0942 works? Thx already.

Hi there,

first, thanks a lot for the great job done here :D

I'm trying to update my 106j with the "DS-106j DSM 2.2-0942"
http://www.file-upload.net/download-187 ... 2.pat.html

but when I upload the .pat with the DSM interface, it just doesn't upload the file... no network activity registered by the router and the DSM interface keeps showing "transfering data to the server. please wait...". The current firmware is a DSM 2.1-0832 and usually the update process works fine.

Any idea ?

I have never encountered a problem like this myself, but from what I remember reading on these forums it's important to not have the .pat sitting on the NAS itself and to use http and not https.

Hope that helps.

Best,
Derf

I have a DS-101G+. Was using 106e-844 and upgraded to 106e-942. Both works, but -942 reports high HDD temps (54*C) and keeps the fan spinning.
