After reboot the system crashed and couldn't find a DSM.
fixed it by editting it back to 108j in notepad on my pc using ext2 volume manager :D

Still wondering why this happened.

Dont know what happended, but even dont know why you think you have to change the model from DS108j to a DS109j. DSM 4.0 will be available for both.

Dear goetz, HarryPotter & anyone,

I have read this long discussions & managed to mod my DS106 to DSM 3.1 1613 by using DS107.

If I want to build the any DSM from 108j, are the following steps correct?

warsur wrote:1.
edit /etc.defaults/synoinfo.conf, change
unique="synology_powerpc_106"
to
unique="synology_powerpc_108j"

2.
upnpmodelname="DS107" --> "DS106"
supportsystemperature="yes" --> "no"
showtempdesc="yes" --> "no"
synobios="ds107" --> "ds106"
supportfanctrl="yes" --> "no"
support_auto_poweron="yes" --> "no"
support_mtd_serial="yes" --> "no"

If I want to enable, I have to follow the step below?

goetz wrote:Hi,
nope, Im running 1742 from DS108j on my DS106. To enable eSATA you have to copy
/usr/syno/hotplug/pci.agent
/usr/syno/hotplug/pci.rc
and complete directory
/usr/syno/hotplug.d/pci
from latest DS107 firmware.

Regards Goetz

goetz wrote:Hi,
you have to extract latest DS107 .pat file. For that I use totalcommander. Than copy files to your DS, public directory. After that, login as root and
Code: Select all
cp /volume1/public/pci.* /usr/syno/hotplug
cp -r /volume1/public/pci /usr/syno/hotplug.d

Regards Goetz

Re: Build my own DSM 2.2-0959 for DS-106, update: 4.0-2166

Postby warsur » Fri Mar 02, 2012 6:49 pm

Dear All,

I have managed to build my one DSM 4.0-2166 for my DS-106. However, some the parameters (3 nos.) mentioned here are missing in "synoinfo.conf". Here they are as shown "*":

upnpmodelname--> "DS106"
*supportsystemperature="yes" --> "no"
*showtempdesc="yes" --> "no"
synobios--> "ds106"
*supportfanctrl="yes" --> "no"
support_auto_poweron--> "no"
support_mtd_serial--> "no"

The DS-106 seems ok at the moment. Is there any other parameters shall be amended?

Thanks.

DSM4 on a DS-106e/x (via DS108J Patch)

Postby benjibarnicals » Fri Mar 09, 2012 5:25 pm

Any one installed the new DSM on a DS106e or x? If so, how well does it run?

I have an old one knocking around, thought it would be interesting to see if its worth it.

I've a DS101G+ Flashed to a 109J DSM 4 2166, I've not used 2197/2198 as yet.

It runs... like a pile of rubbish..

But it works..

Don't get me wrong, It's not that bad. But i have a DS410 with 1GB RAM & a DS209+ with 1GB RAM.. so i consider it slow.

I could connect it to my switch, Give it a domain name and let you have a play around with it.

Won't be tonight though, It's friday... and the beers out!

It's ok to me.
I am not an expert to modify the DS.

The reason why I tried to flash my DS-106 to DS-108j is that I wanna to use put my 2T harddisk in a DS-106 as an network backup to my DS409+. (As I saw other saying that 2T is not supported by DS-106 before.)

Luckly, they work fine, DS-106 now can backup my entire DS409+.

Hi,
I've succesfully updraded my DS-106e to DSM 3.1-1748.
I'm using an esata backup and i can't manage to copy the hotplug files using "goetz" cmd lines
i've extracted usr/syno/hotplug and hotplug.d from last 107.PAT and copy it on my "public" folder but this code:

cp /volume1/public/pci.* /usr/syno/hotplug
cp -r /volume1/public/pci /usr/syno/hotplug.d

is not working for me (don't understand the "/pci.*") (i'm not very confortable with command lines and path :)

Thanks

Hi,

Yes i'm logged as "root", and i've copied the "usr" folder extracted from last "107.pat" to my "public" folder.
do you know the right "command lines" to copy the "hotplug" files to the syno?

thanks
