I'd like to say a massive thank-you to Alfredo - putting this latest (0942) patch on my 406 has saved me from buying a new NAS. I have been getting lots of disk errors recently (Hard disk X on CubeStation had an I/O error, but it is working properly now after several retries; it may have been caused by bad sectors. If this event appears again, please back up your data and run the S.M.A.R.T. test on your hard drive to examine the hard drive status.") but they were phantoms as both the full SMART Test and disk manufacturer's utilities gave no errors. With this new firmware all errors have gone away!!! - Thanks again

I've just looked at the new firmware, and I'm not affected by any of the fixed bugs. So I will probably be skipping this minor update, unless there's a demand for it.

+1 hoping for someone to post an updated 406e update. Been away from the forums (pretty much since Synology cut 06 level support) and amazed by the rogue community - those are some features I'd love to have.

Per request, the new firmware. Since I was busy anyway, I decided to make one for the CS406e as well. Since I can't test it myself, I'm looking for a user who's willing to try it. Please PM me and I'll provide you with a download link.

No, they're not compatible. I don't even think they use the same bios, which makes it practically impossible for me to upgrade the firmware.
