does LCC problem still persist?

Postby liustephen » Wed Jul 14, 2010 5:30 pm

hi,

i just bought the 210j, and a WD caviar green 2tb HD.... WD20EARS. thought this would be nice to have a low power usage drive.

then, i came upon the LCC problem. silly me for bad timing.

is this still a problem? i don't have the knowhow to run the wdidle3 (nor the hardware, i'm on a laptop). nor do i want to.

should i just cancel my order?

or not a big deal? (will be using synology for home network light use).

thanks,
stephen

It is still there with WDxxEARS, but I don't know if it is cosmetically or real issue.

I fixed my WD10EARS for the DS110+ with WDIDLE3.

For me it eventually became a real issue, but it took several month until I noticed it. My 210j hanged/crashed approx. once a day, so I had to power off/on it (the standby button didn't work) and wait for the HDD to be checked, which took 15-20 minutes. After having used the wdidle3-tool, all problems have disappeared!
