DS212 and Vantec USB 3.0 HDD Dock

Postby angelviper007 » Tue Nov 22, 2011 12:08 am

Hi,
I've just migrated from a DS207+ to DS212+.
The migration went well and everything is running perfectly.
I do have an issue though.
My old DS207+ had a Vantec HDD dock connected using eSATA. That worked well.
I've purchased the new USB 3.0 version of the dock to make use of the USB 3.0 ports on the back of the DS212+. The new dock ships with a USB 3.0 cable.
When I attach the new dock using USB 3.0 to the NAS, and put in a HDD, nothing shows up in File Explorer. If I use the old dock and eSATA, it's visible.
Looking at the External Devices in Synology Control panel it shows the drive is there but it's not shared and the file format is unsupported.
Its happening with multiple HDD's.

Any ideas?

Almost same problem I have.

I have external HDD: WD My Passport Essential SE (WDBACX7500ABK USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 750 GB Windows/Mac) and he works only with USB 2.0. Then I put it into USB 3.0 slot it not shows in any external or file station like usbshare.. list. Looks like USB 3.0 not work on synology DS212+.

Then put HDD to front USB 2.0 all works fine.

Where can be problem? Any ideas?
