Hibernation mode problem:
Since upgrade to dsm 3.2.1955 on my DS508
The attached file is as follows[this was the disk station hybernation debug out put and below I showe how I used it]
1. syno_hibernate_debug_tool --enable 1
2. The first 6 or so hours the cables to the Ethernet Switch were unplugged for both Ethernet ports.
2A. Results, I could hear the drives spin up which means it was asleep. ;-)
3. The next 8-10 hours the cables were plugged in to a switch with NO other connections to the network, there is a cable that connects the switch to the router (WRVS4400N), which is unplugged from the router. This leaves only the switch connected to the DS508
3A. Results, I could NOT hear the drives spin up so it appears as though the drives never went to sleep??
I've done this test twice now with similar results and different switches.
The data recorded in the dat file is from
Trendnet TEG-S50G Switch
The previous unrecorded attempt was with
Linksys EG005W V3
Both Ether ports on the DS508 connect to the same switch either Trendnet or Linksys and from there they are connected to the internet router WRVS4400N
Is it possible for this to happen, I thought the switches were passive? and even if they are not passive why would it have occurred on two different units.
If you can look at this dat file it would be great, and let me know what you find or if I'm crazy...LOL
The Response from Customer Support
Based on the tests you have performed, the issue only occurs when the unit is connected to a switch. Unfortunately, the scope of our support is limited to the products and services we offer. Please contact Trendnet and Linksys for support.
I know it's not this service guys fault but my god what they hell are they thinking, since this is a bug in their software not in A PRE EXISTING SWITCH...LOL
I added in a third switch Cisco SD2008 and again the software fails to let the hard drives sleep.
Looks like they are going the way of microsoft or something
