Time Machine problems - just synology?

Postby Jabes » Mon Mar 26, 2012 8:37 pm

I've been repeatedly struck by the "time machine verification" problem where Mac OS wants to write-off your backup. I'm using DSM 4.

Searching around, I am far from alone in this...

Is this a general Time Machine problem, a netatalk problem, or just synology's implementation?

Time Machine completed a verification of your backups. To improve reliability, Time Machine must create a new backup for you.

I had this quite often early on in Lion and with the DSM update that supported TM on Lion, but it has not really been an issue for quite some time for me or the other 4 Mac clients using the NAS for Time Machine.

I have 3 macs backing up with time machine. Funnily enough the only one that does it is the one which is suspended the most so I suspect it is a problem around the transactional roll-back that lion uses...
