User accounts (elementary question)

Postby scottcpa » Wed Jun 20, 2012 6:18 pm

How does the NAS authenticate a user? When I try to access a privilege folder I am denied. My first question is "How do I identify myself as the privileged user?" Do I somehow associate a Windows computer name with the user name? Is there a login screen where I can claim to be the particular privileged user and not part of the default user group? (I'm not a great tekkie but can usually fool around with things to make them work. If there is another thread that addresses this question, then please refer me to that thread.) TYVM.

If it's a SMB share you want to access from a computer, the easiest thing to do is to create a user on the DS with the same credentials as on the computer.

Otherwise when you browse the network and try to access a folder you should be asked to enter username and password.
