Encrypt file share?

Postby SirJMD » Wed Apr 04, 2012 10:09 pm

Okay, so I have a DS1511+ and I'm currently mounting it as a network drive in Win7 on a local network. It's works GREAT. Now I want to be able to mount it from where ever I am. However, as far as I know, that type of sharing is not secure.

So is there a way to do this in a secure way? I have the encrypted FTP running, but I'd like to be able to stream music etc. without having to download it first.

Thanks in advance!

Hi

What about setting up a VPN service towards your DS.

Just install the package from Package Center (If using DSM 4.0)

I thought about that yesterday after posting here. But.. it just wouldn't work. I enabled PPTP, changed nothing and opened port 1723 TCP. I made a new connection in win7, told it to use PPTP, CHAP and MS-CHAP v2 - but it won't connect. It just times out.

Managed to setup a split VPN and add persistent routes to the share - all working!
