Cannot see DS710+ on workgroup

Postby jez » Sun Apr 18, 2010 5:17 pm

Hi,

I cannot see my freshly-installed 710+ on my "home" workgroup.

Running Windows XP with a Netgear WGR614 as a router/switch (no other computers on my workgroup).

I'm able to ping and access the Synology's web interface (including FTP) from my desktop but I'm not able to see it in "my network places".

I've enabled NetBios and file/printer sharing, to no avail.

I would appreciate any insight.

Thanks!

Have you created any shared folders and set the permission for them accordingly?

Yes I have. I can see my shared folders when logging in through FTP. I think it may be an issue (something I have or have not enabled) on my desktop - but not sure what..

Try to access it manually by typing this: "\\diskstation name\shared folder name" in an explorer window.
