FTP download (act as client)

Postby kenco8801 » Sat Apr 07, 2012 10:32 am

Hi

I've got an FTP server which I would like DownloadS tation to treat like an RSS feed ideally, if any new files appear then download them.
Else, I want to enter a URL to download and DownloadStation to download the entire contents (like you can do with a normal FTP client) but this doesn't happen eg.
I give it a URL to download, that URL contains a folder. It will download the Index file in the URL but won't download the folder itself or its contents.
The reason I want to do this is because sometimes a folder will contain hundreds of files, so I don't want to enter 100 URLs into Download Station I just wants all the files.

Are either getting it to act like a normal client or RSS Feed type thing for an FTP site possible?

Thanks!

"If you want to download a FTP folder, simply enter the FTP link with the forward slash (/) at the end of the link. All of the files and sub-directories in the folder will be downloaded."

Hmm, that doesnt work for me.

eg:
http://domain/DATA/folder/files.mp3

I tried entering

http://domain/DATA/folder/

and

http://domain/DATA/

and then both with an asterix (*) on the end, all i get in my downloads folder is index.html

I have exact the same issue. If I specify a file, it downloads fine, but when I do what the documentation says (see quote below), it doesn't download anything.

"If you want to download a FTP folder, enter the FTP URL link with the forward slash “/” at the end of the link, and all of the files and sub directories in the folder will be downloaded."

The urls you posted kenco8801 were http and not ftp.

I just tested this (ftp folder) and it worked fine for me. It downloaded all files content including subfolders for the specified ftp folder url.
DS111 (DSM 4.2) and DS109 (DSM 4.2), both connected to gigabit ethernet and wireless lan.

What they mean with FTP URL link is : ftp://<yourDS>/folder/ (folder is a subfolder of /volume1)

NAS : DS212j with 2 ST2000DL003 in SHR / DSM 4.2-3211
LAN : Fritz!Box 7170, 4 Devolo, 1 Icidu 200Mbps AV homeplugs, 2 5-port switches
HW : Conceptronic CHD3NET, ACRyan Playon!HD, Eminent EM7075dts, Wii U, PS2

It would be odd to use Download Station to download a ftp folder from your own DS to your own DS, but ftp url does mean using the ftp:// protocol url, yes.
