Synodroid Pro

Postby etaix » Wed Dec 07, 2011 12:33 pm

Hi all,

I suppose that most Android users already know Synodroid, or use it. Synodroid is a free and opensource application to manage your downloads with an Android handset.

But developping an application, fixing issues, answering users is time consuming. At the beginning of the project we added a "donate" button in Synodroid but we received less than 30$, despite more than 50000 downloads => less than 0.0006$ per download/user : Siccc !. Few months ago, I wrote to Synology to ask them to support us: they never answered me even if I think that Synodroid is really cool for their users, therefore for their business !

I was a bit frustrated and I decided not to get involved anymore in Synodroid. But Steve Garon continued to maintain it. Thanks to him.

Today Steve launches "Synodroid Pro" (available on Google Market). It includes a revamped user interface with native Honeycomb and Ice Cream Sandwich support. This version also includes new features only available in the Pro version! It is no more a free of charge application.

Good luck to Synodroid Pro.

Hi,

I can only support you on that, it's really frustrating that nobody respects developers. That's exactly why I put SynoLoad as a paid app on the Android Market.

I hope you can get some support from users too !

Cheers,
Jérôme

I just bought your app the other day. Would it be possible to add an option to use SSH when connecting over internet and not local LAN?

I like to keep most of ports closed, and don't like my NAS being exposed to the internet, so I exclusively use SSH to tunnel into my home network.

Thanks Eric for all your work !
If iPhone/iPod/iPad users can enjoy SynoDS as it is today, it's a little bit thanks to you and your advices about the different available interfaces to control the download station !
Good luck to Steve for his new version :)

Thanks Sylver,
It was a real pleasure to develop Synodroid and also to help you (even if - i'm sure - you were able to develop SynoDS without my advices)

Diverge, did you try tunneling local port 55000 (for example) to <NAS-LAN-IP>:5000 and connect using localhost:55000?

Your apps are much appreciated, I bought SynoDS and use it all the time (especially now with the file browser and unrar features).

Huge thanks to Eric for starting the Synodroid project! Remember Eric, your always welcome back if you have spare time :)

Also thanks to all of you that either donated to the project or bought the Pro app, this is because of you that the project is still alive!

Without your advices, I would have certainly chosen the download redirector interface instead of the on from http admin pages and SynoDS would have been more limited in term of features (or it would have required me to rework everything to switch from one interface to the other)!
I wish you good luck in your future projects !

Hi,

I have an issue with Synodroid. When I select a download on my Samsung phone or tab it doesn't show up in the dowload list.

Please assist.

Just wanted to put a "Thank you" out there as well for a great app. Already purchased the Pro version.

We also have a few apps on the Google Play store. We made donations possible in one of them, an app which is far less popular than Synodroid, but to this day, we have had donations for a total amount of: A resounding "ZERO" dollars.
