Example link, sent to DS via contextual menu:
https://torcache.net/torrent/5413F27D17 ... ent?title=[kat.ph]royalty.free.footage.time.lapse.tumbling.clouds.rar

It errors in DS, showing there as:
magnet:?xt=urn:btih:FEB61C19A32BEC6940286B02FEFDCB600C6DF8E4&dn=grimm+s01e01+hdtv+xvid+lol+ettv&tr=http%3A%2F%2Ftracker.publicbt.com%2Fannounce

Copying the magnet link and pasting into the main DS GUI works; pasting into the SDS menubar field fails with the same error.

Once this is sorted, any chance of adding contextual menu ability to magnet links? A fair few sites are starting to go magnet-only now.

Thanks very much,

Safari 5.2 (7535.18.5); SDS 1.4.3

First of all: please try updating the extension to 1.4.4 (in your Safari preferences). I have fixed some small bugs that might have something to do with your issues :)

The torrent link doesn't work for me as well. I get an "unknown" error in both the extension and the DS GUI. This means that it isn't a bug in the extension, but a bug in the Download Station software by Synology (or an incorrect torrent, haven't tried it in a desktop client). If you think the torrent is correct and it's a bug in the DS software, you could submit a support ticket for Synology here.

The magnet link does work for me. You could get an error for magnet links sometimes because the extension doesn't have full support for them. It uses Zoink.it to find the right torrent file for magnet links, but that site might not have a torrent for all magnet links (although it finds more than 95% of the magnets :)).

When downloading directly from web it works, but when adding an a torrent with the Safari extension,
i get: "1.96KB og NA (NA) - Error"

I've tried uninstalling/re-installing DL station, restarting NAS, creating new download folder, checking permissions etc.

Please advise.

Same here, too... "1.96Kb of NA (NA) - Error"; if I add the torrent "manually" (downloading the torrent and adding it via DiskStation Manager), it works; however, I think this isn't an extension bug, because if you copy and paste the same address in DSM, you'll get the same error. Seems to be a Synology problem. :(

I think it is a problem in DSM, the extension just passes the link to the torrent file to DSM and I haven't changed anything in the extension that could cause a problem like this. Sometimes it works of you click the start button in the extension, otherwise re-adding the torrent could help. Hopefully Synology fixes this issue in the next update!

Hi has anyone reported this problem to Synology?

I'm sure it is not the Extension.

The problems started after upgrading to DSM 4.0-2219

https://torcache.net/torrent/2F705225CF ... ent?title=[kat.ph]battle.force.2012.720p.bdrip.x264.ac3.zoo

Is an example of a file that errors when adding to download station, and it used to work.

I haven't reported it to Synology. It is indeed a bug in DSM. You can report bugs to Synology using this form

Version 1.4.5 is now available!
Changelog 1.4.5
- Support for private torrent sites for Chrome and Safari 5.2! The extension will upload the torrent to a temporary location from where Download Station grabs the torrent file. Uploads are deleted from the temporary location after 10 minutes.
- More efficient communication with Download Station.

Unfortunately private torrent sites are not supported in Safari 5.1. This is because it requires an API that has been added in 5.2. Safari 5.2 is currently in beta and only available for developers. I think Apple will release it to the public with the launch of OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion!

Version 1.4.6 is available. This version fixes a problem where certain torrent URL's wouldn't work on Safari 5.2 (beta) and Chrome. Most Safari users won't have this problem since Safari 5.2 is only available to developers. You can expect another update with more changes soon :D

Changelog 1.4.6
- Fix for problems with torrent URL's that contain parameters (Safari 5.2/Chrome only)

Hi.

Thanks for the efforts you put in this plugin. It seems to be the only way for mac users to directly add download without going trough the DSM interface.

Unfortunately, it don't works with me. When I right-click and select "download with diskstation", I got and error message (verify URL). When I copy the link and paste it manually after hitting the "add task", same thing. When I paste the same link in the Download Station, it works fine. I checked the connection in the option page and it was fine (except I can only use port 5000, 5001 doesn't work, no idea why).

Any idea?

Chrome users will be updated automatically. Safari users will get a notification within the next week, but you can also update in the 'Extensions' tab in Safari preferences (click 'Updates').

Since 1.5 the extension does not work anymore for me. The DS button in the Safari menu bar does not show tasks ('no tasks in the queue'), add tasks fails (notification shows) and adding by right click also fails.

test connection is ok
none of the three 'other options' make a difference

Safari 5.1.7
DSM 4.0-2228
Safari Download Station Extension 1.5.1

I have several active downloads and seeds running, adding directly in Download Station works. Let me know if I can post additional info to solve this problem.

What kind of error do you get when you add a task? Just that it failed or a more specific error? For example this URL: http://bbned.nl/scripts/speedtest/downl ... 1000mb.bin

To make sure if this is caused by version 1.5: could you instal version 1.4.6 again to test if that version still works? You can download it here (disable auto-updating of extensions in your Safari preferences to prevent it from updating to 1.5).

Everything is fine now. Possibly that latency on my connection caused the errors. Anyway it works now. Sorry to have bothered you.
