Kad: Not connected

Postby ahagen » Sun Sep 28, 2008 4:02 pm

I'm trying to get eMule to work. Although it connects to ED2K, it does not connect to Kad.

On my router, I've forwarded port 4662 (TCP) and 4672 (UDP) to my Disk Station. On the Download Station I've configured eMule to use the default ports (4662 and 4672).

Any suggestions on how to get Kad connected?

I have the exact same problem here. Somehow we can't even see if Kad tries to connect or not. There's no button or so.

I have the same problem. Seems that the masters of this forum don't know more than we in this topic...

Please note there is another port you have to open.

Kad needs an UDP port which is calculated with the <TCP port>+3.

Then, if you use 4662 TCP port, then you'll need to open 4665 UDP too. (This doesn't affect the fact that you'll need to open UDP 4672 too).

Also note that this doesn't help Kad disconnections on my CS-407. I get connected, and after one hour (sometimes less) then gets disconnected.

Hope this helps,

Same here on 207+ Fw 726
I've forwarded 4662,4665,4672,
when Kad gone connected is "Firewalled",
anyway after 10 minutes goes disconnected.

I'm also in the same boat. Just bought the 207+ and was ready to start downloading on emule and theres no way to connect kad directly. I don't use ed2k network, so I deleted the servers from the list.

I've forwarded tcp 5723 and udp 5724,4672,5727 (5723 and 5724 are the main ports).

Just can't get kad to connect.

Valda, you doesn't tell if you're forwarding tcp or udp. please take note that are different ports. You'll get rid of the firewalled (sometimes stays a bit firewalled and then puts green). You won't get rid of the disconnections after some time.

Alceh, if you are using main ports TCP 5723 and UDP 5724, then you'll have to open:
TCP 5723
UDP 5724
UDP (TCP+3)=5723+3=5725

These are the three ports you'll have to open. All other ports will not help on becoming connected.

Hope this helps,

Thanks, I've done that and Kad connects but only when connected to the ed2k network. Emule clients allow for either network to be connected to, or both. Because of insecurities and fake/authority servers I want to stop (and did) using ed2k in favour of just Kad. But it seems with the current download manager, you can only connect to both.

We need a button to connect kad and a separate button to connect ed2k (along with settings to auto-connect) ;)

Hi, Alceh

I'm glad it helped you!

I fully agree with you in the need of selecting the networks to connect. Another issue I've seen around this forum (I think I've seen in the firmware theme) is the capability of selecting emule/kad network without selecting bittorrent (which is enabled by default activating the download manager).

After this last firmware I don't use any other P2P client, I don't use so much P2P and it's enough for me just the features of this first version with all of it's annoyances (hangs with jumbo frames, no capability of selecting networks, kad disconnects and lack of user permissions (I have to enter always with admin user to the download web)). I'm looking forward to see how the synology guys improves it in the next firmwares.

Hello,

yes, I have:

TCP: 32831
UDP: 64357, 32834

Is there a way to check if the ports are actually open. Just to be sure that my router (dir655) has done it correctly.

Allright, I have now fully tested if needed ports are open (with portchecker of Emule)

I now have

TCP: 5723
UDP: 5724
UDP: 5726 (TCP+3)

I have entered TCP 5723 and UDP 5724 into settings for Emule on synology download station..

Still no connection to KAD :(

What to do?
